"Nicer"... I can see how you might think that.
There are many ghouls who disagree, though.
[But that's just Kaneki, deciding to be much more active in preying on and disrupting "his own kind"—though that was already a stretch, considering how much derision they used when they spat out the name, "Sekigan."
Sad, though. That was very... personal. Kaneki doesn't reply for a while. When he does, he's a bit avoidant:]
